Anecdotes & Hearsay Are Not Facts
August 29, 2024Personal Truths vs Others’ Opinions
September 7, 2024“You can’t argue logic with someone who wants to fit a narrative to a desired conclusion.”
Theory of Self-Relativity defines “Confirmation-Bias” as:
“Interpretation of something as confirmation of an existing conclusion or belief.”
Confirmation-bias is commonly a factor in deception; be it self-deception or deceiving others. Confirmation-bias is often associated with motivated-reasoning, placebo-thinking, and other forms of emotionally driven cognitive engagements intended to make something appear the way one wants it to be rather than how it is. This is why dogmas and propagandas use feelings based arguments and reasonings to appeal to people’s emotions.
Same applies to personal relationships with high-conflict individuals such as borderlines and narcissists. Hence why toxic-relationships, politics, and religion use deception and dogma to push their agenda forward.
