“True leadership is encouragement, guidance and inclusion.”

In any and all interpersonal-relationships be it as a leader or as a romantic-partner; even more important than appreciation is encouragement, guidance and inclusion, because encouragement, guidance and inclusion represent interest and caring; therefore a sense of appreciation is inherent to encouragement, guidance and inclusion. Additionally, the effects of these attributes do not wear out as quickly as a one-time appreciation would.

These could only be accomplished if one is capable of having self-awareness and self-caring. If we are not kind and caring to our own self, we won’t know how to reciprocate same for others. And most of all, to be an effective leader, one must first learn to lead one’s own life effectively.
