Knowledge-Gap

December 18, 2021Our mind is a powerful tool yet a dangerous tool; because our mind can make us believe what feels good rather than make us recognize what is true.
Facing facts is often an emotionally difficult task because facts that require change are usually uncomfortable to deal with. However, the factual-reality always catches up and further affects our lives negatively if we don’t deal with it properly. It is better to face facts and evidence, as uncomfortable as they might be, in order to change and improve the reality around us; than to alter our thinking about reality in order to temporarily feel-better. Reality-distortion via denial, ignorance, delusions and other forms of defense-mechanisms such as positive-thinking is a significant contributor to our inability to self-improve. Factual-thinking prevents reality-distortion.
We self-deceive by thinking “if it conflicts with what I want to be true, therefore it must not be true.”
We can learn to minimize negativity and increase positivity by improving the quality of our life in the actual and fact-based real Universe. However, we must make actual changes based on what facts are showing us rather than change our thoughts based on how we want our preferred reality to be. We must learn to adapt our thoughts, our feelings and our behavior to evidence and factual-reality; we mustn’t try to ignore reality by altering our perception of reality in order to feel good.
To feel good…you must think well
