June 27, 2024“The 2 Requirements For Proper Communication”
As stated in Theory of Self-Relativity, “communication is the most common form of human behavior”. Communication, especially language, is our main means of sharing thoughts and exchanging information. Our language communication comprises of our expression of language primarily in the form of speech and writing; and, comprehension and understanding of the expressed language via listening and attention.
Since language is a human trait and it is expressed with words that are generally associated with our feelings; therefore, to have the most effective means of communication, we must care and we must have interest to understand what’s being communicated and how to communicate it. To do so we must have:
- Empathy: (Care to understand one another)
- Perspective-Taking: (Have interest to understand one another’s perspective)
As further stated in Theory of Self-Relativity:
“To be a good listener, you must have interest and you must care to understand”.
