October 1, 2024“Word-salad is a requisite for gaslighting.”
Gaslighting is a form of psychological manipulation, and even abuse, that is intended to create a false reality and to persuade a person into questioning their own thoughts, perceptions, and memories. Gaslighting is commonly enabled by lies and deceptions and results in cognitive-dissonance.
Gaslighting is not only intended to create confusion and dissonance but it is the basis of what is commonly known as “crazy-making”; whereby, it creates doubt and questions the person’s sanity relative to reality. Word-salad is almost always present in gaslighting and crazy-making situations and it involves stringing of words and sentences that sound as if information is being conveyed, but when examined in detail, one realizes there is no value to the sentences exchanged.
As stated in Theory of Self-Relativity:
“Ambiguity and complexity is not an indication of sophistication or applicability.”
