From Beliefs To Knowledge

October 12, 2024Theory of Self-Relativity refers to:
“Rationalization” as “Using intelligence for deceptive reasoning.”
Deception, be it by others, or more subtly self-deception, occurs because of lack of knowledge and information, or because of being convinced that misinformation or denial and ignorance of information, presents us the reality of something. Deception occurs when we are persuaded or convinced that how we observe and evaluate something is truly how that thing is. Deception occurs through persuasion and via selectively omitting certain facts that otherwise would not convince a person of the merits of the situation.
In cases of self-deception, we self-deceive by evaluating evidence through the filtered lens of being biased about the information. We often do so by justifying and rationalizing information that is not to our liking, or by ignoring information that when discovered will not be to our liking. In other words, as stated in Self-Relativity:
“If it conflicts with what I want to be true, therefore it is not true.”
This is why, Theory of Self-Relativity insists on self-awareness via factual-thinking, so that we discipline our Self to see reality as reality is, and not as we want reality to be.
