While a well-known quote from Albert Einstein states “definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again expecting different results”, Theory of Self-Relativity recognizes similar characteristics with human thoughts and beliefs that are intended to be comforting but have no factual basis to support them. Such mindsets are often best represented in ideological and tribal settings such as religion, politics, and cults.
Humans, due to their intelligence, are the only species that can self-deceive via rationalization, and one of the main reasons that we use rationalization for self-deception is to make reality appear and feel better than it really is. Hence why:
Theory of Self-Relativity defines “Rationalization” as “Using intelligence for deceptive reasoning.”

“When we pray, we are simply talking to our Self.”
