April 20, 2021“Empty-faith and false-hope are a harder fall than never having hoped for something; because it is easier to not have something than to have it and then lose it.”
This is why “Self-Deception & Self-Lies” as well as “Faith, Hope & Beliefs” are “Theory of Self-Relativity’s” two of the 10 enemies of self-improvement.
Our immediate need to avoid pain, to feel good, or at the minimum, to feel less-bad is the main culprit of us living with wishful faith, hope and beliefs than dealing with reality as is regardless of how uncomfortable or dislikable reality might be.
Change is difficult because what needs to change is dislikable, uncomfortable and often painful. We can either deal with reality as is so that we can begin the process of changing difficulties in our favor; or we can continue to kick the can of reality down the road just so that we can temporarily feel good. We can use our intelligence to make change or we can use our intelligence to create false-hope and fallacious-beliefs so that our fragile feelings won’t get hurt.
To deal with reality as is, we must learn to think factually and not emotionally.
