March 29, 2021“Confidence is a skill, not an attitude. Confidence is achieved via the acquisition of Knowledge and Experience.”
Many incorrectly think that confidence is a state of mind and if they wish it they will become confident. As discussed in Theory of Self-Relativity confidence is a skill and not a mental-state and confidence is something that is achieved and improved down the line of change and personal-development. Confidence is the byproduct of “true” self-improvement which could only be achieved when we deal with reality as is and not as we want reality to be. This is why positive-thinking and wishful-beliefs not only do not result in long-term increase in self-confidence but when they fail and clash with factual-reality, positive-thinking and fallacious-beliefs actually create more insecurity.
In order to develop and strengthen our self-confidence we must change the way we think so that we can deal with reality as reality is, regardless of how dislikable or uncomfortable reality might be. This is why Theory of Self-Relativity is build upon the foundation of “Factual-Thinking.” When we think factually we will learn and gain knowledge as facts indicate and when we gain and apply knowledge we will then accumulate fact-based experiences which will lead to our confidence of knowing how to deal with life.
