Me before We

April 7, 2021“Don’t be afraid of fear; just know the facts.”
As discussed throughout Theory of Self-Relativity, negativity is our default state-of-existence, and the primary role of what Theory of Self-Relativity describes as our “primitive-mind” is to keep us safe. Our primitive-mind doesn’t care if we are happy; all it cares about is if we are safe so that we can live another day. The primitive-mind does so by detecting potential threats and dangers. When our primitive-mind senses or detects potential threats or dangers it produces negative-feelings so that these feelings will force us to take action to resolve or eliminate the threat or danger that is making us feel negative.
Fear, which is an extreme negative-feeling, is often what we feel when we feel threats and dangers. We feel fear regardless if the cause of the fear is real or perceived, and one of the primary causes of fear is uncertainty. This is why factual-thinking is of great importance, because by understanding the cause of our fear we can deal with it accordingly. However, if we react to fear emotionally without understanding the cause, we will continue to remain fearful.
Therefore, in order to minimize fear, we must minimize uncertainty by getting information about the cause of the fear so that we can alleviate the cause properly.
