Being the Best

May 15, 2021“The Universe doesn’t exist so that we could exist; we exist because the Universe exists.”
There is no purpose or meaning in many things, especially things that happen naturally, and more importantly, natural things that affect us individually. For things to have a purpose, it means there must be an intentional-agent behind the purpose. As pattern-seeking animals we are primitively hardwired to try to make the meaningless be meaningful because assuming that the movements in the tree branches is caused by a predator instead of the wind had a high chance of keeping our ancestors safe and alive. However, in the modern-times, in the absence of primitive-dangers, we tend to assign agency in order to give difficulties a purpose and meaning, and that is how superstition and self-deception is created.
By making claims that “it’s meant to be” or “everything happens for a reason” we try to concoct purpose and meaning by inserting “unknown” or “imagined’ intentional-agency into something natural that has no purpose, meaning or an intentional-agent.
This is why purpose and meaning isn’t found nor given by someone or something; it must be created and cultivated from within, which means we should be the intentional-agent for our purpose and meaning.
