April 22, 2021“Censorship or sanctity is the last refuge of a person or an entity who can’t handle the truth.”
As discussed throughout Theory of Self-Relativity, the truth is often uncomfortable; hence, we often think things and we do things because we want to feel good; not because they are good for us. The need to avoid pain, to feel good, or at the minimum, to feel less-bad, is the main cause of our bad decisions, our incorrect actions and our inability to change and improve. And one of the ways that we do so is via what Theory of Self-Relativity has termed as “Placebo-Thinking.” Placebo-thinking is “thoughts that we concoct regardless of their factuality in order to support our desired feelings.”
However, when the truth becomes so powerful that even placebo-thinking becomes ineffective; many, especially those in power positions resort to silencing the truth so that they can hang on to their preferred and self-serving beliefs and ideologies through censorship or by claiming something as being holy and sacred. By silencing a subject-matter from discussion, and more importantly from questioning; they can further try to ignore the truth and pursue their preferred but baseless ways of living life. However, facts and reality always win!
